Concert Review: Loveovernite! | Newmarket | 10.01.16.

For Fans Of: SayWeCanFly & Never Shout Never

Loveovernite (aka Kai Salmon) is a softcore/emo artist from Brampton, Ontario who opened for SayWeCanFly on Saturday, October 1st. A Newmarket show to support the local scene was definitely the best way to see him live for the first time. The show featured: The Rise of the Broken (Michigan), The Ocean Cure (Toronto), Arbors Lane (Woodbridge), Two Year Plan (Newmarket), Curses (Toronto), and SayWeCanFly (Lindsay).

Playing both originals and covers, Loveovernite brought his all in his acoustic performance. As a musician who has drawn inspiration from Mayday Parade, Knuckle Puck and Patty Walters (As It Is vocalist), it is apparent that he holds his own unique sound. The heart and soul that he puts into his music is shown through his facial expressions and heard as his lyrics are belted out during his set. Kai was joined briefly onstage by friend and YouTuber Jasey Rose, for a cover of Neck Deep’s ‘A Part of Me.’ Earlier in the set, Pierce The Veils ‘Hold On Till May’ was covered after opening with his original, ‘Consistency’. Kai closed with my favourite song of his, ‘Floating bones, Sinking Hearts’ and the room was left in quiet amazement.

A mix of fans and friends, the crowd was there to enjoy all of the acts. Overall, his set was amazing and he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Check out Loveovernite’s social media here, here, and here.
